Joanne Stivale Obituary (1929 – 2022) – Caldwell, NJ

JOANNE EMILY STIVALE (BELLO)
Joanne has evolved into a new plane on May 22, 2022. Her life is a kaleidoscope of Daughters, Wives, Mothers and Paralegals. Her main goal is to raise strong and brave children and her family has always been her priority.
Early in his career he celebrated his first Earth Day in 1963 when he worked for the Montclair Art Museum and continued his interest in Environmental Protection throughout his life. He was offered the opportunity to become legal secretary by Albert Cohen, Esq. Partners Cohen and Meshulm. He continued his legal education with Montclair State University becoming a Paralegal. Using a Paralegal degree worked for Margolus and Berbstein, Esqs. Obtained a Real Estate License which helped him in a corporate position in a large British steel company that owned extensive properties in the United States. Joanne is the Executive Administrative Assistant and Office Manager for this Company’s Executive Vice President and Legal Advisor.
Joanne moved to a Real Estate Venture Firm and organized and operated Peachtree Software’s accounting program at the start of the technology revolution. The company eventually merged with the New York Public Accountant firm. He worked in New York for 10 years continuously improving and maintaining the accounting program for the company and working with CPAs in the Tax Department.
After retiring, he worked as a volunteer Writer Coach for the Montclair Public School System. Joanne also teaches Sunday School at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for 7th graders.
In 2010 Joanne joined AARP West Essex Chapter 131 who was then at the United Way Building writing articles for a newsletter on topics important to seniors. He worked hard to help build the branch into a strong and vital organization. Joanne became Vice President in 2015 and together with President Gail Johnson made the move to the Montclair Public Library. This move gives members expanded access to the library’s senior program, adult education classes, and potential additional memberships. Joanne was elected President and continues to update members on non-partisan legislative issues espoused by the AARP National Organization regarding Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid policies. He attended the College of Leadership program and many other LED and virtual zoom classes, and senior service-related AARP programs. Attends annual Lobby Day to connect with New Jersey State Senators to encourage senior programs.
Joanne is involved in many recreational activities. He is an avid reader and writes Life Poems describing the ups and downs of life. He was introduced to the political scene in his teens, by his mother and father, and continued to be a community activist throughout his life. She spent hours from childhood to adulthood immersed in reading various books, writing on many subjects and poetry, sewing, gardening, sewing, knitting, repairing furniture, planning and renovating living rooms.
Joanne has a full and loving life with family and friends and looks forward to more adventures as she transitions to another dimension.
