Although many factors cause environmental damage, there are still opportunities for the community to help with conservation efforts near their homes.
From beach cleanups to film screenings, here is a list of 10 events to celebrate Earth Day in Connecticut.
Spring Festival To Nature

The Darien Nature Center will hold a “Spring to Nature” Earth Day celebration on Saturday. Activities will include community art projects using recycled materials; performances by the Sova Dance and Puppet Theater in Connecticut; animal encounters; Children’s StoryWalk; planting seeds; and much more.

Newtown’s Annual Earth Day

Grace Farms

Beach Day Cleaning

Individuals or families are invited to clean up Hammonasset Beach State Park on Saturday. While all cleaning supplies will be provided, the host will not provide bottled water.

Arbor Earth Day Festival

Barlett Arboretum and Gardens will host the annual Earth Day Arbor Festival on Sunday. The festival is free and will include activities such as a tree-planting ceremony, tree-climbing demonstrations, live music, and food vendors.

Connecticut Audubon Society screening of “Mountainfilm on Tour”

In honor of Earth Day, the Connecticut Audubon Society will host a virtual screening of “Mountainfilm on Tour,” featuring several documentaries that inspire people to create a better world. Tickets to screenings start at $15.

Litchfield County clean-up event

The Barkhamsted Lions Club is again hosting the annual Barkhamsted City Community Cleanup on April 23.
